Nowadays, most goalkeepers will wear three kits in a season – and there have been quite a few campaigns where Arsenal’s custodians have worn four distinct shirts.

However, Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has already reached five for 2018-19 and has time to increase that figure.

Four are in the style which adidas have given to most of its clubs and countries. While there are a number of common colourways, the biggest contracts have tended to receive bespoke versions and for Bayern it’s a three-tone grey.

As well as the normal T-Mobile sponsorship, against Borussia Dortmund this was worn with the wordmark of Magenta TV, one of the telecom firm’s services.

While the grey kit has ‘FCB’ on the socks, Neuer’s other three kits in that style have been common options, with the adidas logo featuring instead.

He has used blue, orange and, oddly, red (Bayern wore a change kit away to Hertha Berlin in the league with no colour-clash present, allowing him to use it).

And, as if he didn’t have enough options, against SV Rödinghausen in the DFB-Pokal (domestic cup), he wore the Bayern third kit with a baselayer and, oddly, without the competition patches.
