The summer of 1998 saw Milan return to adidas, but, while their previous stint with the German firm had seen the three stripes conspicuous by their absence, this time around the new kits were unmistakably adidas.

It was an excellent set, with the third kit worn on the final day away to Perugia as they claimed a first Scudetto since 1996. It’s notable that there’s little or no non-adidas off-field clothing but otherwise you could bedeck your hose in Rossoneri tat, while we haven’t seen club-branded bicycles in any of the other catalogues we’ve featured.

The Opel association is strongly played up and there’s a quaintness to the players and coach Alberto Zaccheroni lining up alongside cars. It’s also quite the treat to see an Italian club’s squad list that stops at number 27, rather than being laden with digits from the 90s.
