With the return of Admiral lasting just a season, Leeds United became part of Asics' growing stable of English clubs. A smart kit, the addition of blue and yellow horizontal stripes were the main accoutrement.As the change kit featured so much blue, Leeds tended to mash up rather than opting to wear the alternative strip - as they would do with an all-yellow away - for shorts and socks clashes. The yellow socks appeared at Chelsea and Sheffield Wednesday.Blue away shorts used against Ipswich Town.The away shorts and socks made for an unusual but nice look against Aston Villa, Manchester United (despite no socks-clash) and West Ham United.
While Leeds had had blue and gold halved home shirts prior to the switch to white, a striped combination was a completely new direction but not an unpleasant one.The home shorts were worn for the game away to Tottenham Hotspur - it meant six different combinations for Leeds that season.
