While it’s a Japanese production, the product imagery is straight out of Herzogenrauch – the captain’s armbands give that away. In the days before easy only translation services, getting the English right was not always easy and we certainly won’t sneer about that.
Otherwise, it’s just a miscellany of nostalgia. One interesting thing we found was that the 1982 Manchester United and 1985 Liverpool designs were available as separate teamwear offerings when they were very similar – essentially, the stripes going down the arm was the difference.

Honest to goodness that’s the best era of design
The fonts were those use by Japan at the time, alongside with the TAD-544 kit template (with the accents on the V-neck collar being red and white, though).
