Newcastle’s last season with Castore before returning to adidas saw them in white first-choice socks for just the second time since the turn of the millennium.

Due to Champions League opponents Paris Saint-Germain’s lack of suitable alternatives, there was the rare of sight of Newcastle in white shorts at home, while leftover European-spec shirts – featured a white space for the number – were used in the league when Newcastle promoted the Royal National Institute for Deaf People at home to Tottenham Hotspur.

While the default away socks were green, the white change set – almost identical, but different, to the home socks – was used more often. Equally, the third kit in its intended format (also with white socks) only appeared at Nottingham Forest.
