West Brom became the first team in the Premier League era to avoid relegation after being bottom on Christmas Day, the Baggies resurgent under Bryan Robson in the new year.

The red and navy change kit and a set of white alternative socks allowed for some good interchangeability while the white third shirt only appeared at Southampton – a reversal, navy with white trim, might have worked better.

This time around, relegation could not be avoided, though at least they went down having explored a multitude of interchangeability options.

The wide stripes on the home kit harked back to the late 1970s, while the colour palette of the previous season’s change kit was flipped and a nice dual-coloured sash was introduced.

The third kit was narrowly saved from being a one-off – it appeared at Everton on the last day of the season.
