Reminds me a bit of Scotland’s recent failed experiment with the white sleeve, itself reprising of a brief 1950s trial … same era Brazil first moved away from that strip they’re wearing in your pic of the Fifa centenary friendly… of the first half (kudos to the ref for also getting into the retro spirit … and clobber)

  3. I just found your website and it’s amazing !
    Adidas had a thing for raglan sleeves at the time since many french sides had these types of shirts at the time (Strasbourg, Bastia, Valenciennes, Toulouse…)
    Strangely, when Saint-Etienne won 5-0 against Hamburg SV in 1980-81 UEFA Cup, the german side played the first half in plain white shirts and the second half with red raglan sleeves…
