Milan and Roma have just kicked off at San Siro and there are two fine kits on show – this season, Milan have white home socks so the visitors are wearing their home socks with their change shirts and shorts.

Last season, the two clubs had superb kit sets – click the links on the right for the full articles – and we wondered what the best-ever match-up was between the clubs.

Obviously, the 1990-91 Serie A season was full of all kinds of kit goodness but, rather than impose our own biases, we felt it best to ask somebody with more in-depth knowledge and picked the brains of our friend Ed Moynihan, a Roma fan who runs the Forza 27 site. He opted for 1983-84, when Roma were defending champions:
That Roma kit was perfection. Kappa, Scudetto shield, lupetto on sleeve, Barilla sponsor – doesn’t get any better! Nice thin-striped Milan kit too.
Milan were in what would prove to the last of a two-season stint with Ennerre, while, unusually, Roma had switched from Patrick to Kappa mid-season, though the Patrick socks remained.
It’s hard to argue with Ed’s view, but we’d certainly be interested in hearing alternatives. Comment below or tweet us @museumofjerseys.
