There have been six European Cup/Champions League finals where both teams have changed and half of those instances have occurred on this date, May 24.
It’s a practice that appears to have died out – the last time it happened was 2000 and that was the fifth time in a 15-year period.
Since then, any deciders with colour-clashes have seen one team change – as happened in a few finals during the 1986-2000 period and, indeed, in the very early years of the competition, when Real Madrid and Internazionale won in alternative colours.
