Our two previous editions of this sub-set, where teams’ own away or third kits are recoloured – see here and here – have proven popular and today’s is another riff on that theme,
Setting the ball rolling was Celtic Curio on Twitter:
Celtic’s real third strip, their first since moving to adidas, is all-black and features the an enlarged clover, but CC wanted something that nodded to the club’s alternative for much of the early 20th century, featuring a shamrock crest.
Of course, Celtic’s great rivals Rangers had adidas from 1992-97 and Jay Mansfield wondered what a red and black version of their last three-striped away kit – which was white and red – would look like. Rangers’ home socks are usually black and red and so Jay asked for white and blue socks to counter-balance this.
Feedback is welcome, along with requests for future FKFs – comment below or tweet @museumofjerseys.
Celtic with black shorts and green socks would be interesting.
Love the Rangers in red black.
The Celtic change looks very sharp. It has the feel of a Republic of Ireland away kit from their Adidas era.
The Rangers red jersey is more interesting than the original, but the blue pullovers & logo on the socks are too distracting from the rest of kit. For white socks, a black pullover with red stripes & logo seems most appropriate. For best balance, red socks, black turnovers, white stripes, and white logo fits the bill.
Both are really nice, i am not sure about the white stripes in rangers red and black shirt.
