Our friend Jay Mansfield recently looked at Scotland kits that feature tartan on them and there’s no doubting that the mid-1990s strip, which had the brashest version, remains fondly remembered by supporters.

Given the inclination for modern designs to reference older strips, and the recent move back towards garish prints, it’s perhaps surprising that we haven’t had a 2020s variation from the SFA and adidas, but the Football Kit Memories Podcast, hosted by Craig McFarlane, is here to help by requesting it.
Perhaps we’ve funked it a little bit by going with plainer shorts but it’s like that that’s what would happen if something like this were ever to come to fruition again.
Equally, it’s possible that adidas wouldn’t want the stripes in purple as they could look lost, but too much gold would make the kit look less like Scotland.
Feedback is always welcome, along with requests for future FKFs – comment below or tweet us @museumofjerseys.
Fantastic design.
That would never sell. Aye right. Lovely
