- – See here for Part 1 and here for Part 2
You may be familiar with the phrase, “An Irish solution to an Irish problem,” – if not, this post should serve as an example.
We promised that this series, conceived by Tom from The Shirt Union, would run over three parts. In an ideal world, where we were able to make a living from writing about and illustrating football kits, that would have happened in a straightforward fashion; however, the various other commitments in life at this time of year mean that the third part is now split in two.
As in the other two instalments, each team is given a Nike T90* makeover – the home and away follow the stylings of the time and the third is a tribute to a 1990s favourite. Part 3B will follow at some stage over Christmas Day or the 26th.
Bolton Wanderers

Chelsea

Norwich City

Portsmouth

*It’s Christmas but we included an Easter egg – in this universe where the Premier League have a blanket agreement with Nike, a compromise had to be reached with Bolton Wanderers, who had Reebook as kit manufacturers, shirt sponsors and stadium naming-rights partners at the time, and so their logo remained instead of the swoosh

That Chelsea 90’s ‘favourite’ is no favourite of mine I’ll have you know…
