
It’s always interesting to wonder what might have transpired if a team stayed an extra year with a manufacturer or switched a year earlier than they did.
Dan Barker had such a request:
The base kit chosen by Dan is the 2003 England strip – you might think that that’s anachronistic but United were one of Umbro’s jewels and often had kit elements that would later be adapted for others.

Dan’s idea didn’t exactly lead to an avalanches of similar requests, but Rodrigo Lara Weisson did have a similar suggestion.
Umbro didn’t have a whole lot of striped templates at the time, so Lens’ 1998-99 kit was the best option.
