In the site’s first year, 2016, for the last Friday before Christmas we indulged ourselves with an FKF devoted to Cork City – the club’s colours of green, white and red made it suitable. Since then, it has become a tradition and here is a brief rundown of past offerings:
For today’s one, we are again delving back into the club’s infancy of the mid-1980s, a time when Hummel – who would make City’s kit from 2008-11 – were really pushing the envelope with ground-breaking designs.
For the home, we have used the classic ‘Danish Dynamite’ as the base: it seems that the Danes had a green third as a Carlsberg tie-in, though we don’t think it was ever used. The halved shorts that Fifa banned were just a step too far for us to try. The away and third take their inspiration from the classic 1985 Tottenham Hotspur kits.
Feedback is welcome, along with requests for Fantasy Kit Friday going into 2022 and beyond – comment below or tweet @musumofjerseys.
We wish all of our readers a happy and healthy Christmas.
As an absolute Hummel devotee (the club I support and the club my daughter plays for are fully kitted out in Hummel) I have to say that this set up of three kits is winning the Cork FKF run down against previous kits by a long way! These are awesome.
