This piece was inspired by the excellent work of Ray Hyland on Instagram – do check it out here.
After some Sunderland work by him, it occurred to me that the Black Cats had just missed out on the Nike Total 90 era, switching to Diadora in the summer of 2004. While the strips made by the Italian firm weren’t bad, the home shirt was strangely devoid of black trim while the away was black heavy with not enough red.
So, having resolved to do a 2004-05 Nike set of Sunderland outfits, I got in touch with others – Chris Parker for Norwich City, Jay Mansfield for Rangers and Marcus Johns for West Ham United. If you like them, credit those guys; if you don’t, it’s my fault.

Can you do a USA flag version of the 21/22 Barcelona home kit?
Superb shout Andy!
West Ham 3rd kit/ white shirt should have been with claret shorts and socks but otherwise perfect…… while I’m more off an adidas/Hummel/Umbro man when it comes to templates there’s no doubt that Nike total 90 era was the prime Nike kits off all time (vapour would have equaled/bettered it had they been in more traditional colours/ not with stupid different colour socks) …?with total 90 templates there’s no limit off fantasy kits – Celtic/Newcastle/ spurs/Chelsea Man City /Home nations national teams etc etc
