It was a perfect one-two…
Scotland were unlucky in that every other British side and the Republic of Ireland were able to avail of the Tailored by Umbro revolution and so it makes sense to look at what might have happened.
For the first-choice kit, we’ve used the Manchester City 2009-10 crew-necked shirt as the base. While Scotland’s similar shirts used for around a decade from the mid-1960s on generally used navy socks with red tops, we’ve gone for the popular red ones here as it allows the change kit to have navy shorts and socks which can be used as home alternatives, as currently happens in real life.
As to what is above those shorts and socks – well, if you’re going classic, taking the England 2009 shirt as a donor, you might as well go the whole hog and pay tribute to the Lord Rosebery colours, used in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

For the goalkeepers, yellow and red were the favoured choices historically and so it makes sense to select them – as both would clash with the second strip, a grey version is on hand, too.
