By and large, Fantasy Kit Friday generally looks backwards, reworking a familiar kit design into the colour-scheme of another team, but today is a flash-forward.
Apparently, the Liverpool home strip for next season will take inspiration from the much-loved 1989-91 design and Simon Treanor feels that there is the potential for the ideal companion away outfit.
When Liverpool were away from adidas, Simon filled in the gaps with alternate realities and so, now that they are back in the three-stripe fold, you can hardly blame him for dreaming.

While the West Germany 1988-91 design was not used by any professional sides in Britain – it was more prominent in Ireland, most notably worn by Cork City and almost by the national team – but the ‘ribbon’ across the chest did appear on sweatshirts and tracksuits worn by Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.

Now, with Germany’s adidas swansong featuring a kit that takes its cues from the 1990 and 2014 World Cup wins, Simon feels that that style could be easily transposed to the Reds.
Following the same red-grey-red striping on the ribbon, it would immediately be fresh and new while also being comforting and familiar.
Should change shorts be required – now that Liverpool seem to be dealing with such clashes again – the traditional black could be used but a grey option could also give a new dimension.
Feedback is of course welcome, along with requests for future FKFs – comment below or get in touch on Twitter, Bluesky or Facebook.

Grey shorts would look awesome but I doubt it would achieve the necessary contrast.
