Colin Forde is in the sweet spot of being a kit expert and a nice guy – listen here to his appearance on the Design Football Podcast or see here for top five Liverpool away/third kits.
That latter post dates from 2021 and even then his request for a Liverpool version of the 2018-19 Borussia Mönchengladbach home design was fairly mature. We won’t say how along ago he made it, only to apologise for it falling through the cracks and to attempt to make up for it by doing second and third kits, too.
The home is fairly self-explanatory – we could have gone with darker red as the third colour like on the real Liverpool 2018-19 shirt, but the gold pops a bit better and allows for a reference to the first sponsored Liverpool kits by having the maker’s logo and crests in gold with the sponsor in white.
The Milan third from that season provides the basis for the purple and orange away. Let’s just say diplomatically that it may not suit all tastes.
Thankfully the third had more Liverpool heritage and the Arsenal home is a good skid-unit for that.
