Back in March, we did an updated Hummel version of the 1987 Southampton shirt – the Coventry 2019-20 design was used as the base but it turns out that next season’s re-tread for the Saints is an even more faithful copy of the original.
Among the replies to that was one from William Fitzpatrick, who wanted to see Nike England kits from the time before the American firm actually produced the strips.
We had previously done and Umbro England FKF from the Nike era, so this made perfect sense – but we felt it better to split it into a series of multiple parts.
William suggested the Netherlands 1998 design for the equivalent England home, which was a great shout, and gave us free rein with the rest.

We chose the Brazil style for the away, given the history of crew-necked red England change shirts, with navy added to aid interchangeability.

In the real tournament, the home socks were worn with the away shirts and shorts and against Colombia, while they went with all-white against the navy of Argentina.

The Belgium kit provides the base for the 2000 England home – it quite possibly looks a bit too much like a USA kit but that’s the risk of using the same kit-maker and colours.

The change strip is based on that used by Rangers in 2000-01 – the horizontal stripes are perhaps a bit too racy but still worth a try.
As always, feedback is welcome along with requests for future FKFs – comment below or tweet @museumofjerseys.
I swear that all four kits are very similar if not identical to at least one England kit each in one out off all the different versions of the virtua soccer’s computer games/arcades …… still all great though 👍
Can you do England kits made by umbro in 2023 similar style to Burnley’s new away kit
